About
Christina
Fantasy artist
and mystical crafter, Christina Davis, was born on January 21,
1976 in Wyandotte, MI. Christina
currently resides in Howell, MI with her loving husband, Jeff and
three adorable pets. She
has been in love with fantasy, arts and crafts all of her life.
Starting at an early age, Christina attended art classes at the
YMCA on Saturday mornings. Unicorns, faeries, butterflies,
beautiful gardens and anything in the fantasy realm interested
her as a child. In high school, Christina took as many art
classes as the curriculum allowed. She became president
of the Art Honor Society for it's very first two years at RHS. Christina is so grateful for
having two inspirational art teachers, Brad Gravelle and Tanya
Au, throughout high school. After high school, Christina
attended Wayne State University in their Art program for four
years. She has gained tons of artistic knowledge from WSU
as well as learning a lot on her own.
Christina has
always had a love for all things magical.
In 1999, Christina became a lot more interested in
Goddesses and other spiritual things.
After creating a painting of “Isis and Osiris,” she
was commissioned to do several other goddess paintings.
That is when Christina decided to start creating
paintings to sell to the public.
Acrylic paints and oils were what she used mostly at that
time as well as embellishments that were added as magical
touches.
Throughout
Christina’s life, she has dabbled in so many different crafts.
In 2001, she decided to try her hand at candles.
Christina loves the soft, enchanting glow of a candle as
well as all the beautiful shapes and colors that they come in.
She started off making artistic pillar candles, which
were a hit with family and friends.
One day, Kelly, Christina’s roommate at the time,
decided to help get Christina started with a business to sell
her art and crafted gifts.
Kelly created Christina’s first website and became her
agent. The business
started off with the name, Craftin Out Loud.
A year later,
Christina changed the business name to Autumn Moon.
Autumn is Christina’s favorite season of the year and
she is completely drawn to the mystical full moon.
Her friend, Rebecca, designed her first logo for Autumn
Moon and is still used on banners.
In September
of 2005, Jessica Galbreth and Amy Brown were an inspiration to
Christina to start painting with watercolors.
She hadn’t painted a whole lot since the candle
business took off and limited her time.
When she started back to painting, her first piece was
“Lady of the Lake” and was for an online art show.
Over
the years, Christina has added many new and interesting
products, lots of fragrances to choose from and magical art.
The business continues to grow.
Christina's dream is to one day open an enchanted gallery
& gift shop to sell her items along with items from her
artist friends. In the meantime, her website,
www.autumn-moon.com,
is her retail outlet. In Autumn of 2007, Christina started
a new product line called Candles Enchanted. It is
a
private labeling candle line for artists, photographers and
retailers worldwide!
In
January 2010, Christina was able to quit her day job to
concentrate on the art and candle business. Many new and
exciting things will be happening with Autumn Moon this year!
